IT Support Technician

Education and Experience Required::

  • Associate's degree or 2 years of college or university work

  • 2 years of IT technical hands-on experience using a combination of hardware, operating system and client-server apps, in an enterprise-wide distributed computing environment.

  • Certifications such as A+ are recommended.

  • In-depth knowledge of the operation, uses and capabilities of computer equipment.

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Microsoft and Mac operating systems.

  • Ability to research, analyze, and determine course of action for complex technical problems..

Responsibilities:

  • Performs day-to-day installation, minor repair, and troubleshooting of the library's network hardware and software, peripherals, office equipment, and other technology-related areas and responds to IT requests using issue-tracking software.

  • Provides assistance in use of equipment and software to both patrons and staff and provides training for library staff on the use of technologies.

  • Coordinates system hardware and software upgrades with library departments and staff to ensure minimal downtime.

  • Contacts suppliers, contractors, and other vendors for cost estimates and orders services, supplies and other materials related to IT hardware and software.

  • Inspects and analyzes performance of contractors.

  • .Sets up, arranges, and removes AV-related equipment for events and meetings.

  • Repsonds to off-hours emergencies as needed and works approved extended hours to meet critical deadlines.

  • Assists department head with annual budget estimates for new equipment, upgrades and supplies.

Job Vacancy Notice - Security Monitor (Position #1)

Immediate Supervisor:Security Supervisor
Hours:14 hours per week: Monday evening 3:00PM-8:00PM; Tuesday evening 3:00PM-8:00PM; every other Saturday 9:00AM-5:15PM; occasional Sunday hours.

Please noteThis is not a seasonal position. We are looking for someone who can work these hours throughout the year. The ideal candidate would also need to have flexibility in scheduling to fill in for days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Security background preferred. Must be a high school graduate.
  • Proven experience working with children, young adults and adults.
  • Well developed oral communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve sensitive public relation matters with limited supervision.
  • No prior criminal record.
Responsibilities:

  • Regularly patrols all public areas and library grounds. Observes activities and notes potential problem areas.
  • Enforces the library's behavior policy. Consults with person-in-charge regarding appropriate action.
  • Communicates serious or repeated violations of behavior policy by individuals, and any other serious incidents or problems.
  • Assists in monitoring the physical condition of the library building and grounds.
  • Monitors use of library meeting rooms and enforces meeting room policy.
  • Assumes responsibility for closing and securing library building.
  • Greets library users, makes them feel welcome, and directs them to appropriate service desks.
  • Performs emergency maintenance tasks (i.e., snow removal, restroom cleaning, etc.).
  • Tidies public areas by returning chairs to tables, placing books on shelving carts, picking up litter, etc.
  • Attends and participates in staff, department and other job-related meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Title:Executive Director
The Library:The Board of Trustees of the Warren-Newport Public Library District seeks a collaborative and forward-thinking leader to serve as Executive Director. The library is located in the Chicago northern suburb of Gurnee, Illinois and serves the Village of Gurnee and all or part of the surrounding communities. This opportunity is available due to the upcoming retirement of the current Executive Director, Stephen Bero.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited school
