Vacancy Notice - Shelver (14 hours per week)

Classification:Part-Time Library Shelver, Grade 3
Rate of Pay:$8.33 an Hour, Grade 3
Immediate Supervisor:Page Supervisor
Available Hours:One position, 14 hours per week. Tuesdays 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesdays 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Fridays 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Two (2) Saturday per month 1:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Occasional Sundays. This is not a seasonal position. We are looking for someone who can work these hours all during the year. The ideal candidate would also need to have flexibility in scheduling to fill in for days, evenings and weekends as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalency.

  • Must be able to work in team environment.

  • Well developed oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.

  • Requires a full range of body motion and ability to move a wheeled book cart with up to 100 lbs. of books or other library materials.

  • Must be able to maintain an exemplary public service attitude.

Responsibilities:

  • Feeds and sorts returned materials to conveyor/sorter system.

  • Straighten book shelves and restocks materials on displays.

Youth Services Reference Assistant (14 hours per week)
Title:Youth Services Reference Assistant

Rate of Pay:$13.96 per hour
Immediate Supervisor:Head of Youth Services
Available Hours:14.0 hours per week: Tuesday 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.; Friday, 10:00a.m-6:00p.m. One Saturday per month 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Occasional Sundays.

We are seeking someone with great customer service skills to share their love of children's literature at our busy Youth Services Desk. The ideal candidate would also need to have flexibility in scheduling to fill in for days, evenings and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or two years of college or university work.

  • Well developed oral communication skills.

  • Experience working with children, young adults, and parents.

  • Basic understanding of library resources.

  • Basic understanding of and library automation.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the selection, organization and interpretation of library materials. Refers complex reference or library policy questions to senior staff.

  • Instructs library users in the use of online services, catalogs and reference tools.

  • Places local holds, initiates system-level interlibrary loan transactions, registers patrons for programs and performs other service desk functions.

  • Troubleshoots minor problems of equipment (computers, copiers, etc.).

  • Attends and participates in staff, department and other job-related meetings..

  • Contributes to the library's web presence.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
