Job Vacancy Notice - Shelver (11.75 hours per week)

Available Hours:11.75 hours per week. Wednesday 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Two (2) Saturdays per month 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Occasional Sundays (Sunday hours are from Labor Day-Memorial Day). This is not a seasonal position. We are looking for someone who can work these hours all during the year. The ideal candidate would also need to have flexibility in scheduling to fill in for days, evenings and weekends as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalency.

  • Must be able to work in team environment.

  • Well developed oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.

  • Requires a full range of body motion and ability to move a wheeled book cart with up to 100 lbs. of books or other library materials.

  • Must be able to maintain an exemplary public service attitude.

Responsibilities:

  • Feeds and sorts returned materials to conveyor/sorter system.

  • Straighten book shelves and restocks materials on displays.

  • Feeds and sort materials to conveyor/sorter system.

  • Straighten book shelves and restocks materials on displays.

  • Sort materials in numerical/alphabetical order.

  • Work with conveyor/sorter system for returned library items.

Job Vacancy Notice - Outreach Services Associate (2 positions)

Job Title:Outreach Services Associate (Part-Time; 2 positions)
Classification:Grade 10
Rate of Pay:$16.01/per hour
Immediate Supervisor:Head of Outreach Services
Hours:Two positions, both 15 hours per week: Position #1 Monday and Tuesday 2:00PM to 8:30PM; one Saturday every 5 weeks 8:00AM to 3:00PM. Position #2 Tuesday and Thursday 2:00PM-8:30PM; One Saturday every 5 weeks 8:00AM-3:00PM.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or two (2) years of college or university work.

  • Two (2) years of library related experience.

  • Ability to obtain a Class C driver’s license (within 90 days of hire date) and excellent driving record and driving ability..

  • Familiarity with library automation and Microsoft Office products.

  • Good oral communication skills and experience in working with all age groups.


Responsibilities:Responsibilities:

  • Drives bookmobile on established routes and for special occasions, e.g. local parades.


  • Assists Outreach users in the selection, organization, and interpretation of library materials.


  • Answers reference questions, author/title inquiries as appropriate.


  • Checks in, out, and renews materials as well as reshelves and rotates materials and shelf reads bookmobile collection


  • Issues library cards according to library policy.


  • Places holds and delivers reserved materials to patrons and helps patrons to place their own holds.


  • Assists with serving seniors at senior residential facilities.


  • Maintains and updates bookmobile stop statistics and desk activities.


  • Conducts outreach story times upon special request.


  • Selects, weeds, and/or advises on acquisition of outreach materials.


  • Implements the library's summer reading program on the bookmobile.


  • Assists with homebound deliveries as assigned by department head.


  • Performs other duties as assigned.
