Blankets is an autobiographical graphic novel by Craig Thompson depicting the author’s early years growing up in rural Wisconsin. It’s a story of finding one’s self and of finding love. Thompson’s skill as an artist and storyteller turns the snowy Midwest landscape into a beautiful kaleidoscope of emotions and reflections about family, religion, relationships, and growing up.
It’s hard to put into words how much I enjoyed Blankets. I would recommend you experience it for yourself. I would not recommend this book for younger readers. Don’t let the size of the book scare you off, it reads quickly.
