Native American History Month Programs at WNPL!

Please join us for three fascinating Native American History Month programs in November:

In a Cook County cemetery, hidden for generations, the headstones of Chief Alexander Robinson and wife Catherine Chevalier have been recovered by archaeologist Dan Melone and descendent Verlyn Spreeman. Learn how the grave recovery began, as well as the cultural and natural impact the site had on Chicago history.

Dressed in traditional regalia, author Kim Sigafus will help us celebrate Native American Heritage Month, discussing the tribes that once lived in Illinois as well as her own, the Ojibwa. She will teach us a few Ojibwa words and will drum and sign a traditional lullaby.
