Lunch & Learn @ WNPL
Westward pioneers sang about land, soldiers sang about war, but eventually as the country
settled, composers wrote songs about love. We invite you to join us for Love Songs of Four
Generations on Wednesday, February 14, at 10:30 a.m. On Valentine’s Day, we would love for

Practice ACT for Teens
On Sunday, February 18, teens in grades 6-12 are invited to take a Practice ACT from 1-5 p.m.
A representative from Sylvan will provide a proctored practice ACT exam. Helpful strategies,
quick tips and a healthy snack will be provided. Students must use #2 sharpened pencils (no
mechanical pencils) and a non-phone calculator (ideally a graphing calculator) Please register

Open President’s Day
The library will be open on President’s Day which is Monday, February 19, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Movie Matinee for Kids
No school? No problem. Bring your kids into the library on Monday, February 19, at 2 p.m. for
our Movie Matinee. We will be showing Disney’s Robin Hood on our big screen and serving
animal crackers to those who attend. You are welcome to bring your own snacks and beverages
as well. A raffle drawing will be held to win the DVD. All ages are welcome with an adult. No
registration is required.
Game Night of Fun
Adults are welcome to stop in for a fun game night on Wednesday, February 21, at 6 p.m. Come
for tabletop gaming with treats and fantasy feats. We will have a selection of games or you can
bring your own…with some friends! Want to learn Mahjong? We’ll have an instructor available

Did you know you can check out and read thousands of books without ever leaving the comfort
of your own home? Join us on Thursday, February 22, at 6 p.m. and learn how you can get
books, audiobooks, movies, magazines and newspaper articles, phone directories, company

Have a Plan: Medicare Options
If you have questions about Medicare options, come to the library on Thursday, February 22, at
6:30 p.m. Ela Venturi from Humana will discuss Medicare options (Parts A, B, C, D, Supplement

Celebrate Black History Month
Join us in celebrating Black History Month at the library. Enjoy exciting Storytelling by Oba
William King on Saturday, February 24, from 2-3 p.m. Oba brings stories, poetry and cultural
songs to life through his interactive, dynamic presentation celebrating African-American
heritage. He weaves stories with rhythm and songs to create an entertaining and cultural event

Then, the DuSable Mobile Museum will visit the library on Tuesday, February 27, from 4-6 p.m.
Come out and experience history through engaging exhibits and captivating story adventures!
This traveling museum provides a unique learning environment to explore the life of Jean
Baptiste Pointe DuSable, who in 1779 established a permanent settlement in the place called

The Warren-Newport Public Library District, founded by volunteers in 1973, serves a population
of approximately 67,000 within a 55-square mile area that covers all or most of Warren and
Newport townships, including Gurnee, Wadsworth, Park City, Wildwood, Grandwood Park, Old
Mill Creek, and portions of Grayslake, Millburn, Lake Villa, Libertyville and Waukegan. Most
programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
