Circulation Clerk (2 Open Positions)

Job Title:Circulation Clerk
Department:Circulation
Rate of Pay:$11.50 hourly, non-exempt
Warren-Newport Public Library has immediate openings in our busy Circulation Department for two (2) circulation clerks. If you have experience working with the public, a passion for providing amazing customer service, a positive attitude, and a sense of humor, consider applying today.
Position #1:Averages 14 hours per week:

  • Monday 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  • Tuesday 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Wednesday 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  • Two weekends per month. Weekend hours are Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

  • Weekend hours are on a rotating schedule. Sunday hours are from Labor Day-Memorial Day
Position #2:Averages 12.25 hours per week:

  • Wednesday 5:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.

  • Thursday 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  • Two weekends per month. Weekend hours are Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

  • Weekend hours are on a rotating schedule. Sunday hours are from Labor Day-Memorial Day
Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Effectively communicate in English, both orally and written. Bilingual a plus, but not required.

  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a collaborative team environment

  • Working knowledge of basic computer programs and office equipment.

We have an immediate opening in our busy circulation department for a part-time shelver. If you have a knack for being meticulous, a keen eye for detail, a passion for assisting patrons of all ages, and enjoy staying active, consider applying today.
Scheduled Hours:

  • Monday and Tuesday, 1:00p.m. to 5:00p.m.
  • Thursday 5:00p.m.-9:00p.m.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Sort and shelve library materials in numerical and alphabetical order.

  • Locate materials placed on hold by library patrons.

  • Operate the automated conveyor system; sort materials onto shelving carts.

  • Maintain the order and appearance of library collections.

  • Collect library materials from the indoor and outdoor book returns.

  • Inspect, straighten and restock materials on displays.

  • Complete special projects within the department.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to arrange and file in alpha/numerical order.

  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a collaborative team environment.

  • Working knowledge of basic computer programs and office equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires a full range of body motion including standing, sitting and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Requires bending, stooping, and reaching to move library materials.

  • Must be able to push/pull a two sided wheeled cart with up to 100 lbs. of library materials and must be able to lift boxes of books, paper or other materials weighing up to 40 lbs.

  • Must possess manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination when moving library materials or operating the automated conveyor system.
