When will upgrades occur?
Computer upgrades are expected to begin in the Adult Services area. Upgrades will continue in Youth Services, once the work in Adult Services is complete.
How can I use the new computers?
Our new computers will feature Windows 10 operating system; Office 2013 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher & Access); three internet browsers (Edge, Explorer & Chrome); and widescreen monitors. Patrons will continue to use library cards or guest passes to sign on to a computer.
Why are the upgrades happening now?
Computer upgrades require planning in time and budget considerations. It’s important to invest in newer technology that can hopefully meet our patrons’ needs as technology changes.
It appears there are now fewer computers compared to before, why is that?
An analysis of the usage statistics of our old computers indicated that this is the optimal number of new computers for us to have. That said, WNPL is committed to excellent service, and, as we monitor the usage of the new computers, we will reassess our technology needs. We have appropriated resources to add new technology if necessary.
