Prepare your children to read with Bookflix and our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program!
Bookflix – A resource for young children which pairs storybooks with related nonfiction titles to reinforce early reading skills and develop real world knowledge.
1000 Books Before Kindergarten – a library program that encourages all families and caregivers to read at least 1,000 books with their young children before they enter kindergarten. The program is open to all preschool-age children with their families and caregivers.
Why is it important?
Reading aloud with your child is the single most important thing you can do to help them get ready to read. It helps them build the language and social skills they need for success later on in life.
How does the program work?
Register on Beanstack. If you need help, just ask!
Log the titles you read with your child. Books read at school or in storytime count too, and it’s okay to log the same book multiple times!
Receive a sticker every time you read 100 books.
Keep reading and keep logging until you reach 1,000 books! All it takes is just one book per day.
Celebrate! When you reach 1,000 books, visit the library to receive your Super Reader award and claim your spot on our Wall of Finishers.
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten at WNPL is made possible by a generous grant from the Friends of the Warren-Newport Public Library District.
